Six months married!

Halloween

Finally, pictures from Halloween! I like Halloween with Matt. He is such a good

sport becuase he dresses up, gets into the pumpkin carving and carmel apple making.

He Loves me, he loves me not...he loves me!

Here are a few of my desgins from my Floral Design course. So far this class has been a lot of fun (and sometimes frustrating) because of the fresh flowers we use and techniques we learn. I learned in my class that there are floral designers and floral arrangers. Anyone can arrange flowers, but it takes an artist to design masterpieces. Hopefully I will be skilled enough to design rather than arrange.

Recently I learned of Matt's new "activity"...hitchhiking to school. I guess it isn't enough that we live about a ten minute (or less) walk from school. Surprisingly people actually pick him up! The best so far has been a UTA bus. He needed a ride from the Tanner building (NE side of BYU campus) to his truck parked by the stadium (about a 5 minute walk). What did he do? He stuck out his thumb and a big UTA Bus stopped just for Matt. The passenegers laughed as Matt go on. But hey, they didn't charge him. What a silly husband I have.

Baldy

All summer Matt kept telling me how much he wanted to shave his head. One LATE night Matt and I stopped by my sister's house and my brother-in-law, John, walked out with his recently shaven head. This got Matt talking again about shaving his head...I finally gave in. Thanks John.

This is the result. It actually wasn't that bad. We both agreed it turned out a lot better than we expected. (Unfortunately, I didn't take a before an after photo. I took during and 2 weeks after photos. Shux)

Miya (Mee-yah)

This summer I was also blessed with my first niece (on my side of the family)! Baby Miya. She is so cute! Hopefully she will be a little gentler than my nephews. I've tended my nephews (4 of them when ages 4, 2, 1, and 9 months) and it was rough. All they wanted to do was wrestle and tickle me. Even though they only weigh 20 pounds they don't realize a body slam is still gonna hurt. They also have a lot to learn about tickling...just because the person being tickled is laughing doesn't mean the person likes it.

Matt is really good at making her laugh which is the opposite from her brother Nahoa--Matt is really good at making him cry. Miya also seems to like Matt. Here she is in the clothes Sue (Matt's mom) bought for her.

Get Serious

I was joking about using ViVi magazine as my learning source for my trip to Japan (it was just a good excuse to pay $20 for a magazine). Instead Matt is trying to teach me a little Japanese so I can get by...I'm a little skeptical about my learning abilities but I'll give it a try. To facilitate my learning, we are looking into two learning sources:

Genki Japanese

Or

Rosetta Stone Japanese

I almost feel like I won't have enough time to use Rosetta Stone. But I hear it is pretty effective. Am I really going to learn Japanese or should I just stick by Matt's side the entire time and be in my own world when anyone talks to us? I think it's worth a try, but is it worth a $500 try or $40 try?

Matt and I are planning a trip to Japan and I thought I would learn what I can about Japan...so I bought ViVi magazine (Japan fashion magazine) and I love it! There are so many Japanese-y fashions, make-up and hair styles. It's nice to look at a magazine that I can actually relate to (i.e., hair, make up for Asian eyes). I can't read anything in it, but if there is something I am really curious about I ask Matt and he reads it to me. I had a friend from Hawaii who always had these magazines and I finally ordered one. But I had a good excuse. (Chotto matte is a Japanese word I heard Matt say once. I like the way is sounds so I always use it, even if it's out of context)

Morning Jog

Matt and I ran our first half marathon (and maybe last?) in August! I have to admit it was fun, but I don't know if we'll ever do it again. Our friends Kayla and Tyler invited us to run with them 3 weeks before...to train Matt and I ran 6 miles five times during those 3 weeks. Somehow, we made it all 13.3 miles. I was so proud of Matt. He's not much of a runner but he surprised me by running the entire time (and then passing me). Matt: 2:12:00 Tazbaa: 2:17:00

Lunamares

We were given shirts from our resort that said "Honeymooners" on the front and "Lunamares" on the back...

We toured Tulum which was very interesting (and HOT).

Matt talked about going to Cancun for our Honeymoon for almost a year and we finally went! It was so much fun and Matt did a wonderful job planning the week-long getaway!

Back Up

So it has been about 5 months (5 months!) since we were married...meaning I am 5 months behind on this blog! I guess I really don't have to backtrack but we have had some highlights within the past 5 months so I am going to do a quick recap.

Our Ohana

I did it! I thought of a name that I can be proud of even years down the road. The Oldroyd Ohana! Ohana means family (all of you who have seen Lilo and Stitch should know that), but it's only Matt and me right now so do we count as a family? Either way I'm sticking with this name--it's all about alliteration.

Once upon a time...

...on May 17th...

Matt and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a beautiful and exciting day!

Here we are...

We finally decided to be bloggers! I've actually had this blog for about 5 months but never posted anything. I wanted to name our blog something cute and creative...the best I've come up with so far is the Weird-O's or the Cheeri-O's (O for Oldroyds). Matt's not a huge fan of it, but it's just a temporary name. These were Matt's ideas:

I was not a fan of any of those names so I had to override all of them. I didn't want to start a blog until we have kids, but my sister may be moving soon and this will help keep us updated on each other's lives. I am sure going to miss her! She had to show me the ropes of the blogging world so here goes my attempt :)
