Back to School.

Today I sent Matt off bright and early for his first day back to school.

Look at him, all grown up.

My Garden

I planted a garden in May...

(a very small garden)

...and last weekend I was surprised to see all these tomatoes and cucumbers!

I also planted honeydew...

& cantaloupe. Both weren't quite ready.

I'm sad...

The countdown is on.

Matt starts school in 4 days!

No more carefree weekends, homework-less nights OR vacations...for a while.

No more bike rides up the canyon, picnics, weekend road trips (maybe...or not), late movie nights (8 am class...boooo), or sleeping in.

Summer is over. I will miss all these things. Most of all I will miss Matt. That makes me sad.

Snapshots...

Well August was "Famliy Month" for me. I took lots of pictures and our family did lots of fun stuff. We had Matt & Miya's party, went to St. George, Tuba City for Kaipo's baby blessing, family pictures, lots of golf for the guys and shopping for the girls. Since that would make a really long blog post I am just going to post some of my favorite/highlight pictures. Sorry if I lose you...I'm not into descriptions today. "No one really reads them anyway," says Matt (but I do).

While in Tuba Pebbles and I went for an 8 mile run/jog in the "backcountry" (aka boonies) to Dinosaur Tracks...

...the views were AMAZING!

Gotta love Hot Fries & Peanut Patties...two of the Rez's best kept secrets :)

Family cookout: Mom at the grill...

...while everyone else is eating :s

Kono & Nahoa: "No tacos for you Matt!" (Even they know how much Matt likes his Jack in the Box tacos)

We took a small hike/walk to a monument. The lady with the big, bright umbrella=Mom=easy to find.

The boys just had to sit up front with Grandpa...

...then Grandpa let Nahoa drive (on the dirt road @ 10 mph, don't worry).

M&M Party

This year I decided to throw Matt his very own birthday party. It just so happened my family would be in town on his birthday too! My sister and her family were in from Nebraska so I thought it would be a grand idea to combine Matt and Miya's (my niece, to be 1 year old in August) birthdays!

It was so fun to have Matt's family over for his b-day. My mom, sisters and I cooked all the food I had been craving (but I was waiting for them to come up and cook for me ;)).

We had mostly Hawaiian kind of food. (Kalbi chicken, ribs, rice, mac salad, sour cream jello, shave ice, etc.)

Jess made good Pani popo...mmmmmm

My mom and I (mostly my mom) made this cute 1 year cake for Miya.

Pebbles and I quickly made this guava cake for Matt.

I also tried this new recipe for Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cream Pie...I was a fan of it. I don't know about anyone else ;)

The birthday boy and girl.

Miya was so cute. We gave her a slice to "dig" into and get messy, but being the girly-girl she is she was a little hesitant and just poked it with her index finger. We finally had to get a fork and feed her.

Happy Birthday to Matt & Miya! Thanks for comin' everyone!
